"I cordially dislike allegory in all its manifestations, and always have done since I grew old and wary enough to detect its presence."

The Mind Of One Man

jrrtolkien2.jpg
JRR Tolkien. 1892-1973

This site is not so much about Lord of the Rings, though, of course there will be many references to the books, and a few select photographs from the films, but more about its creator and the influences that shaped the creation of Middle-Earth. Sam is fortunate enough to come from the same city, Birmingham, in England, as Tolkien spent his early years, and has a familiarity with the same areas Tolkien knew. The idea grew from a more practical stand point than creating yet another standard J.R.R.Tolkien /Lord of the Rings website( The last thing the world needs is another one of those). Having discovered a recording, on the net, of a 1971 interview with the BBC, we decided to give it it's own home, rather adding to the already burgeoning mega-byte of two other sites that we have, namely The Prospect Before Us and Walk AWhile.
This site will give us the chance to show, most especially, the places that Tolkien used as the basis for, the Old Forest, Hobbiton, and to show you some Tolkien family photgraphs as well.....It's yet another labour of love, so please bear with us...Time to go, we think......
